Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union (MVFCU), one of the leading financial institutions in the state of Alaska, is celebrating their 75th Anniversary serving members and providing financial services to those within the state of Alaska and the Waipahu community of the City and County of Honolulu, Hawaii. MVFCU is an associate member of Hawaii Credit Union League. The City of Palmer, Alaska Mayor Steve Harrington, presented MVFCU CEO Ed Gravley a plaque proclaiming May 25, 2023, as Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union Day in honor of its 75 years of community service. As part of the 75th Anniversary Celebrations, MVFCU is having celebrations at each of its 11 Community Offices (Branches) throughout the year. Free give-a-ways, food trucks, and special door prizes like a Traeger Grill, Craftsman Generator and Yeti Cooler are all part of each celebration. A community member who has already attended a celebration said, “I was the second person to enter the building when it first opened and I still have my account with you even today”. Another prize winning member shared, “I never win anything! You guys are the best! I’ve never seen anyone give away anything that was actually valuable.” MVFCU has been providing financial services to its members in Alaska and Hawaii since 1948. Virtual services such as MV Online, our MV Mobile App and Virtual Members Experience Representatives bring convenient, modern technology to members’ finances while providing the personal touch to those who choose to visit our community and virtual offices. In addition to traditional consumer lending, MVFCU offers opportunities for homes, recreational property and businesses to give our members a full range of service options. About Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union Originally chartered on December 7, 1948, there were 20 members that pooled a combined share balance of $395.00. Growth was slow at first and all work was done by volunteers. Through the perseverance and vision of many MVFCU pioneers, the Credit Union has grown and thrived, today serving over 50,000 members in Alaska and Hawaii. Thanks to the volunteers, dedicated staff, and faithful members, MVFCU has seen growth and success for members and our partnering communities.
