For over six decades, Western CUNA Management School (WCMS) has transformed credit union employees into passionate strategic leaders through rigorous MBA level education. The continuously adapting curriculum provides students a holistic understanding of their entire credit union and industry and ignites engagement and enthusiasm for credit union culture and philosophy. Hawaii Credit Union League, as part of 13 western state leagues and associations, encourages you or management-level staff to attend the 2023 session of WCMS. Western CUNA Management School, July 9-21, 2023 Pomona College, Claremont, California Registration Deadline: May 1, 2023 The school is targeted to managers and upper-level operational staff. Credit unions of all sizes look to WCMS to develop staff seeking to grow professionally. Small credit unions typically send the manager. Medium- to large-sized credit unions send senior staff, branch managers, and functional specialists. Some large credit unions, including the very largest, send top staff to help them acquire breadth in less familiar functional areas or to help the credit union address succession planning needs. College credit is available after completion of the three-year program for those who are interested. Starting with the graduating class of 2017, this credit may now be used towards either a subsequent undergraduate (BA/BS) or graduate degree (MBA/PhD). As one of four regional CUNA management schools, WCMS is supported by leagues and associations of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming credit unions. Graduates of WCMS are now chief executive officers and senior staff of some of the nation’s leading credit unions. Many of them also hold key positions in chapters, leagues, CUNA, and credit union professional societies. Three have become League Presidents. WCMS continues to be an effective proving ground for tomorrow’s credit union industry leaders. Leadership development remains essential for all credit unions and with tuition of $4,950 for two weeks of instruction, private sleeping room, all meals, textbooks, and materials, WCMS is one of the best values in the credit union movement. Scholarships are available as well. Please make Western CUNA Management School an integral part of training and development at your credit union. If you have questions about WCMS, please contact Wendy Kishida at the League. Hawaii credit union leaders talk about the WCMS experience.
